Former Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s comments regarding the ongoing discord between the opposition parties.
Several high-profile figures, including state governors from the opposition parties of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), have reportedly defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the general elections in 2027.
President Tinubu attacked the opposition parties in his June 12 Democracy Day speech on Thursday, stating that he was happy to see them “in disarray.”
“I think you should try your hardest to keep your house organized.” The Nigerian leader said, “I won’t help you do so either.”
Furthermore, by enticing opposition figures to join the ruling All Progressives Congress, President Tinubu has denied the claim that his administration is enacting a one-party system.
In response to Tinubu’s remarks, Saraki told reporters that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is currently in disarray following the Democracy Day ceremony at the National Assembly.

He called on opposition parties and party members to mobilize effectively.
According to Saraki, “I think we have to believe him,” He did a pretty decent job of expressing his opposition to one-party government, after all. We must believe him when he says that he is in favor of a multi-party system. As a result, we all concur.
“We are traveling around and encouraging everyone to join us because of this. People who say they are under pressure are therefore no longer under pressure. Since he said he would not help us, we will try to organize our own homes again. We are all in favor of multi-party.
