Kenneth Okonkwo, a veteran actor, has claimed that former presidential candidate Peter Obi deserted him during internal party issues.
Kenneth revealed this during a viral interview with Symfoni.
Okonkwo, who was previously a spokesperson for the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, officially left the party in February 2025.
According to him, Obi ignored his advise and returned to support the struggling Julius Abure-led wing of the party.
Kenneth said that LP executives duped Obi by claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had recognised them.

He stated, “Any politician who understands what he’s doing cannot be betrayed by another.
“If someone has betrayed the other, Peter Obi has betrayed me.”
“The Julius Abure-led LP members lied to Obi that the Independent National Electoral Commission had accepted them, and Obi secretly returned to them, but I told him, ‘Sir, you have made a public statement on integrity, and even if INEC has accepted them, that is not a criterion for you to return and start dealing with them because they have demonstrated that they are not democratic. If you return to them, they will destroy your political career, and all you have spoken about honesty will be lost.”
