Johnson Suleman, general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, has urged the Federal Government to openly recognize the inadequacy of Nigeria’s security framework and give Nigerians the freedom to protect themselves from relentless attacks, especially in Benue State.
Suleman said that residents had no choice but to use self-defense, which he maintained is a fundamental right, due to the government’s incapacity to safeguard lives and property in a strongly worded statement published on Sunday via his 𝕏 (previously Twitter) handle.
Suleman responded to Friday’s massacre in Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area, where more than 200 people were reportedly killed in yet another vicious herdsmen attack, by writing, “If the federal government knows it’s overwhelmed or its security architecture has failed, they should be humble enough to tell the citizens.”

Protect yourselves, Benue people. There is mayhem, barbarism, and evil going on in Benue State,” he said.
In his earlier trips to Jos and Benue, he added, he had urged the populace to be watchful and ready to defend their villages.
“The constitution guarantees the right to self-defense,” the cleric added. When I visited Benue and Jos, I mentioned that. This cannot be allowed to go on.
While ignoring the current wave of insecurity engulfing the nation, the ferocious preacher also criticized politicians who were already planning for the general elections in 2027.
“I find it absurd that when chaos is being inflicted on the people they are meant to lead in 2025, individuals are worrying about 2027. Whatever became of your humanity?” he inquired.
As he wrapped up his speech, Apostle Suleman wrote, “There was a country…” in which he lamented the situation of the country.
