In an attempt to promote harmony and resolve the ongoing conflict that is impacting the state’s communities, President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to visit Benue State on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
According to a statement released on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, the President has postponed his scheduled official visit to Kaduna State because of the Benue Visit.
In order to find long-term solutions to the conflicts, Tinubu is reportedly scheduled to meet with all relevant parties during his visit to Benue, including political, religious, traditional leaders, community leaders, and youth organizations.
According to Onanuga, the President’s visit is intended to provide a personal assessment of the ongoing situation that has resulted in a great deal of destruction and many fatalities.
Hyacinth Alia, the state governor, listed the number as 59, despite allegations that the most recent round of attacks in Benue killed at least 200 people.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, the heads of intelligence services, the National Security Adviser, and the chairs of the Senate and House Defense Committees have already been sent to Benue State by President Tinubu in advance of the visit.
