According to popular media figure Ifedayo Olarinde, better known by his stage as Daddy Freeze, he was threatened with murder years ago for his criticism of Nigerian clergy.
Daddy Freeze, the co-host of The Honest Bunch podcast, clarified in a recent episode that his family members were also threatened with death.
He added that his vocal condemnation of Nigerian pastors gave others the confidence to hold clerics across the country accountable.

He claims, “My pastor attempted to make amends with my ex-wife after my divorce, but I told him I wasn’t interested.” I was therefore forbidden from sitting in the front row or serving at church functions. Jesus did not condemn the woman who had been married five times and was living with a sixth guy she was not married to, which made me feel rejected. My religion is treating me as though I committed murder, even though I just had one divorce. I therefore quit attending church and began reading the Bible in its original languages. I began reading the scriptures more and more thoroughly. No Nigerian preacher would make sense to you if you were to undertake that labor for a year. It isn’t feasible.
“I am the only person who has ever been persecuted by Nigerian pastors and their henchmen. They made disparaging remarks about me. My family members received death threats against me. Ten years have passed since then. And the reason people are standing up to the church now is because of the work I accomplished.
