President Tinubu Storms Benue, Commits To Unity And Swift Measures

June 18, Makurdi, 2025 In response to the devastating attacks on Yelwata and the neighboring towns, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu made a solidarity visit to Makurdi, Benue State, this morning. The visit, which was brought on by the increasing violence that has killed dozens of people and displaced thousands more, demonstrated the federal government’s will to confront the security issue and promote national cohesion.

President Tinubu was greeted by Governor Hyacinth Alia, prominent government officials, and traditional leaders at the Makurdi Airport. Participation of Stakeholders
Community leaders urged immediate evacuation of displaced people to safer locations and more cooperation in local security. They praised the backing of the federal government but called for prompt execution and broad involvement in peacebuilding.

In closing, the President made a strong appeal: “Let this suffering strengthen rather than weaken our unity.” Together, we shall heal because Nigeria’s power lies in Benue. He exhorted politicians everywhere to steer clear of divisive rhetoric and strive for lasting peace.
