The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is still the only viable option for Nigerians, according to Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration works to better the country for the sake of its people.
These statements were made by the Speaker at the formal defection of a number of opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to the APC in Kaduna State, which was spearheaded by former National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Director General Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi.
The former NEMA DG reportedly joined the APC along with hundreds of his fans and a number of former PDP leaders in Kaduna State.
Sani Sidi’s decision to join the APC was welcomed by Abbas, who said the former NEMA DG made the right choice and that the ruling party is a safe sanctuary for all politicians committed to bettering the lives of their constituents.
On Wednesday, the Speaker said that as more members of opposition political groups switch to the ruling party, the APC will only get stronger.
Every member of the APC in Kaduna is celebrating today. In the last two years, I have not witnessed opposition members uniting to express solidarity and support for the APC like we do now.
In order to find a way for Sani Sidi to get off the sinking ship, myself and His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, the governor of Kaduna State, spoke with him for more than three months. To win over Sani Sidi, Governor Uba Sani has worked really hard.
I want to reassure you that Sani Sidi joined the APC because he saw the progress made by Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The fact that you agreed to join APC makes us delighted.
“You’ve arrived at the appropriate location. This is a gathering of fulfillment and tranquility. You have become an integral part of us. You are under capable and trustworthy care. We promise that you will receive the same respect and benefits that an APC foundation member is entitled to. Speaking to the defectors, the Speaker made it clear that they would not have any reason to regret their choice.

In his separate remark at the event, Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, described Alhaji Sani Sidi as one of the leading political leaders in Kaduna State, whose decision to join the APC was for the development of the state, particularly his people, and not for any personal benefit.
“Today, I’m not surprised that he has made the right decision. His decision is simply because he is for the development of his people, not for personal reasons. He is comfortable and has enough for himself.
“Like the Speaker said, we had a series of meetings, consultations, and engagements. In all those, his focus is about the development of Kaduna State.
