Aiyenigba added that the decision to suspend the National Chairman and other suspected NWC members is designed to allow for a thorough inquiry.
According to the SDP chieftain, Sadiq Umar Abubakar, the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North), has taken over leadership as Acting National Chairman in the interim, as required by the party’s Constitution.
Aiyenigba further stated that the suspensions of these officers had been informed to the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and all relevant agencies.
The statement reads, “The decision followed resolutions made by members of the National Working Committee (NWC), where overwhelming evidence was presented linking the suspended officials to a series of unauthorized financial transactions, personal enrichment schemes, and movement of funds from the party’s accounts without the NWC’s approval.”

“The NWC’s decision to suspend the National Chairman and two NWC members involved in the gross financial misconduct will also demonstrate to the general public that the Party, widely regarded by Nigerians as a disciplined party and a credible alternative political platform for national redemption, has zero tolerance for corruption and abuse of office. Our integrity as a political party must be maintained at all times.
“An interim investigating team has been formed to review all financial data and propose additional disciplinary or legal action.
