Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, has said that he does not see President Bola Tinubu regaining power in 2027 because of his 91% disapproval rating in the Northern and Southeastern areas.
Unless their standard of living has improved since Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, the former leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) urged Nigerians to give other candidates a chance to lead the nation.
El-Rufai, who recently defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), emphasized that Tinubu has made serious mistakes in the areas of trade, economy, and security during the last two years.

“We must ask the public to decide if they approve of the current situation. This is only two years. You should be happy if your life has improved since Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, but if not, why not give other people a chance? El-Rufai inquired.
We have conducted some polling across the nation, especially in the north and southeast,” he continued. Even in Lagos, President Tinubu’s approval rating is 78%, while his overall rating is 91%.
He is performing marginally better in the southwestern states of Ondo and Ekiti, where his disapproval rating is above 78%, but nowhere in the southwestern states is he performing better than 50%.
“The man is no longer there; his performance was appalling. The security architecture has failed, the economy has stalled, trade and investment policies are unclear, and everything else is going wrong.
“They are generating a lot of money, but since there are no results, we are unsure of where the money is going.”
