The father of Abdulwahab Abubakar, a 300-level Chemistry Education student assassinated at Ibrahim Babangida University, Lapai, IBBUL, in Niger State, has expressed tremendous grief, claiming that his son’s promising future was cut short.
He bemoaned the university’s insecurity and urged the Niger State government to take immediate steps to protect students’ safety.
Remember that Abdulwahab was brutally killed during a robbery attack at his lodge on Sunday night at around 2:30 a.m., leaving his family stunned and devastated.
In an emotional interview in Paiko in Paikoro local government, where he lives, Abdulwahab’s father, Abubakar, described the killing of his first son from his third marriage, who had a promising future, as a devastating blow to the family.
“I was phoned at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, and I went to Lapai alone with a heavy heart, arriving at the hospital within an hour. I discovered my son’s lifeless body on the bed, horribly killed. Kai, I had a breakdown. “His life was cut short before it began.”
He lamented that Abdulwahab’s death had not only crushed his family, but also raised concerns among parents whose children were studying at university.

“You can’t expect parents to send their children to school if you can’t ensure security.
“We struggle and work hard to send our children to school, and to hear they’re being killed is discouraging,.” he fumed.
According to him, “the incident is the fifth reported case of student killings at IBBUL, which raises serious concerns about student safety on campus.”
“My family is heartbroken. However, I accept what occurred to us as Allah’s will because He allowed it to occur. Nothing can be done when the moment comes. I previously stated, “Let the government rise up and stop this trend by taking concrete steps to enhance security measures and ensure safety in schools.”
When asked whether we could speak with Abdulwahab’s mother, Rabi Abubakar, 45, Abubakar just stated that she was not in a good place to discuss her loss because she was in deep shock.
