On Wednesday, one person was reportedly killed as a result of violent clashes during the All Progressives Congress (APC) council primaries in Abuja’s Bwari Area Council.
It was learned that the event took place amid mounting tensions about alleged anomalies in the delegate list used for the election.
A video of the incident was allegedly obtained, showing a body being hurriedly transferred into a black vehicle.
According to the media, a voice in the background says, “Quickly, put him inside the car.”
According to a party source, Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman, submitted a controversial list of delegates for the Bwari Area Council primary election.
According to the source, aspirants and genuine delegates rejected the supposed list created by the APC Local Council Chairman.
The issue apparently worsened after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was believed to have accepted the disputed list, which was supposedly submitted to them by the APC leadership.
“The APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, allegedly corrupted INEC and is currently supplying the list of delegates for the Bwari Area Council local government election. According to another source, aspirants and legal delegates unanimously rejected the purported bogus list given by the APC Local Council Chairman.
Meanwhile, in a video obtained by journalists, the chairman of the APC council accused certain party members of being compromised after allegedly accepting money to disrupt the primaries.
During the heated argument, he urged them to examine their consciences and stop causing trouble for monetary gain.
When reached, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, stated: “I am currently not in Abuja. “Thank you.”
In the meantime, SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, stated that she was out of town and would contact journalists later.
“I will call to confirm as I am currently out of town, but please allow me to confirm and get back to you,” the police representative told SaharaReporters.
