Destroying a house connected to Peter Obi’s family, the party’s 2023 presidential contender, has been fiercely denounced by the House of Representatives’ Labour Party (LP) Caucus. According to reports, agents thought to be working for the Lagos State Government demolished the property.

According to a statement issued in Awka, Anambra State, and signed by Hon. Victor Afam Ogene, the leader of the LP Caucus, the lawmakers called the act “deeply disturbing” and a danger to democratic values. The group pointed out that the demolition was allegedly carried out in accordance with a court order that was obtained under dubious circumstances; the order was not issued in anyone’s name or shared with the impacted property owners.

“This behavior conveys a concerning message,” the caucus cautioned. Regular Nigerians are far more at risk if a well-known figure like Mr. Obi can be punished in this manner.

The demolition was also connected by the caucus to Peter Obi’s recent worries about targeted attacks against him and his companies after his outspoken opposition leadership. Political rivalry, Ogene stressed, should never result in psychological, financial, or personal harm.

“Vennettas or resentment shouldn’t be fostered by politics. Service and advancement, not tyranny, should be the focus, Ogene said.

Peter Obi’s legacy of honesty, patriotism, and compassion for the underprivileged was also emphasized by him, and he called for his and his family’s investments to be safeguarded just like those of any law-abiding Nigerian.

Peter Obi responded to the event by cautioning that unbridled anarchy damages Nigeria’s attractiveness to foreign investors. “Any society where lawlessness triumphs over the rule of law is not going to be a friendly place for investors,” Obi pointed out. “The continued violations of human rights further expose the state’s inability to protect its citizens,” he continued.

By posing the question, “If this level of lawlessness can happen to someone with a legitimate business and identity, what hope do ordinary Nigerians have?” Obi brought attention to the predicament of regular Nigerians.
