Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) reflected deeply on the socio-economic trajectory of the country before reaffirming their unflinching commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to reports, the APC continues to be Nigeria’s most institutionally coherent political platform, with unparalleled records of reform, electoral success, and national unity, according to the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), which was holding a two-day strategic regional meeting in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, hosted by Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State.
In an address to Governor Okpebholo, Fred Itua, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, the PGF urged all Nigerians, domestically and internationally, to support Tinubu and the APC as the country progresses toward a more safe, inclusive, and progressive future.
In keeping with the party’s ongoing development, the Forum recognized Abdullahi Umar Ganduje’s resignation as the National Chairman of the party.

With a renewed commitment to a united, just, and prosperous Nigeria, the PGF promised to cooperate in implementing radical reforms, bolstering institutional trust, and accelerating socioeconomic growth in all geopolitical zones.
The governors decided to stick to the principles of the APC and use innovation, technology, and intergovernmental cooperation to propel Nigeria’s change from the ground up.
Mayor Eno’s Formal Welcome
Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom, was formally welcomed to the ruling party by the PGF, which claimed that his and his supporters’ choice to join the APC shows a growing national agreement on the revolutionary policies being carried out by President Tinubu’s administration.
The Forum’s broad support of President Tinubu’s initiatives in every State was praised by the PGF, which congratulated him and his team.
Tinubu’s Reforms
According to its participants, the Forum also offered a thorough assessment of the country’s political, social, security, and economic development.
The governors were pleased to see that federal and state institutions were now better coordinating, especially with regard to the emphasis placed on energy transition, food security, infrastructure modernization, budgetary reform, and social sector revitalization.
They committed to be in step with national goals while adhering to constitutional federalism.
The Forum affirmed support for a strategy shift towards social fairness and inclusive prosperity, acknowledging the success of macroeconomic stabilization measures such the elimination of fuel subsidies, unification of currency rates, and debt rationalization.
The Governors emphasized that further investments in food security, job creation, poverty eradication, MSMEs, and social safety nets are necessary to further democratize growth, even when economic indications indicate a rebound.

Regarding national stability and security, the Forum praised security organizations and continuous initiatives to prevent crime and protect national integrity.
The governors expressed their continued support for grassroots intelligence systems, community policing, and interagency coordination while urging more funding for surveillance infrastructure and frontline staff welfare.
Noting recent measures and travels to Benue State, the PGF reaffirmed its collective resolve to assist the President’s national security architecture and offered sympathies to families afflicted by insecurity, especially in Benue and Niger states.
Along with highlighting the importance of community structures and local government in providing services and promoting democratic participation, the statement also emphasized the necessity of revitalized grassroots governance.
