The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has contacted the lawyers of the projected All Democratic Alliance (ADA) to confirm receipt of their application to register as a political party in Nigeria.
INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony said that the application submitted by ADA’s Protem National Chairman on June 19, 2025 is currently being reviewed.
The Commission finished its communication by extending its warmest sympathies to the applicants, a typical yet formal hint that the application will be carefully considered.
“The Commission is processing your application in line with the provision of Part 1, clause 2(ii) of our Regulations and Guidelines for Political Parties, 2022,” according to the letter.
According to reports, if registration is successful, ADA will join a growing list of political platforms pitching itself as alternatives to Nigeria’s big parties ahead of the impending 2027 electoral cycle.

INEC reported earlier this week that it has received 110 applications to register as political parties.
Meanwhile, Ezenwa Nwagu, Executive Director of the Peering Advocacy and Advisory Centre in Africa, has referred to the 110 associations that have applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for political party registration as jokers.
According to Naija News, INEC Chairman Mahmoud Yakubu announced on Wednesday, during the Commission’s second Quarterly Meeting with the Media, that as of Monday, June 23, 2025, the electoral management body had received letters of intent from 110 associations seeking to register as political parties.
Speaking with Arise Television, Nwagu stated that certain prerequisites must be met, emphasizing that many of the associations lack an acronym, a constitution, a chairman, a secretary, and a valid address, or have non-existent addresses.
According to him, up to seventy of these societies have had offices in cemeteries.
