Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress’s (AAC) 2023 presidential candidate, has said that he will not join the coalition of opposition leaders that is currently assembling in front of the general elections in 2027, calling its members “corrupt and complicit in Nigeria’s ruin.”
According to sources, Sowore rejected appeals for unity among opposition figures after they adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their political platform and made his stance clear in a strongly written Facebook post on Wednesday.
Earlier on Wednesday, human rights attorney Deji Adeyanju urged Sowore to unite with other opposition figures in the effort to topple President Bola Tinubu’s All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
However, Sowore quickly cut off the call, stating that he could not stand with those who had supposedly betrayed the nation and betrayed the confidence of the people.
In a Facebook post, the former presidential candidate stated, “I did not assist Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the distribution of cocaine and heroin in Chicago.
“I refrained from plundering Nigerian Customs alongside Atiku Abubakar.
“I refrained from joining David Mark when he embezzled money intended to repair our phones and subsequently contributed to the demise of our democratic aspirations on June 12.
“Under Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership, I did not participate in the treasury robbery and human rights violations committed by Abubakar Malami, SAN.
“I refrained from participating in the massacre of Shiites and promoting religious genocide in Southern Kaduna alongside Nasir El-Rufai.
