The 3 Division/Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) troops successfully conducted an ambush operation in the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State on Tuesday, neutralizing a suspected bandit, rescuing a kidnapped victim, and recovering weapons.
As part of the ongoing Operation LAFIYAN JAMA’A, which aims to purge the Plateau and its surroundings of criminal groups, the operation was reportedly carried out along the Kampani Zurak–Sabon Gari road.
In a statement released in Jos on Wednesday, Major Samson Zhakom, the Media Information Officer for Operation SAFE HAVEN, revealed the development. He stated that forces had received reliable information about a recent kidnapping in the area and had set up an ambush near a known bandit route.
Soldiers stopped the crooks who were transporting their victim on a motorcycle during the ambush. During the brief battle that followed, one bandit was neutralized while the others ran into the jungle, according to Zhakom.

Four rounds of 9mm ammo, a Boxer motorcycle, one magazine, a fake weapon, and personal belongings left by the escaping offenders were among the items found at the location.
“The retrieved weapons and equipment are presently being held by the military for additional examination,” Zhakom stated.
Follow-up operations were underway in the area to find and capture the remaining criminal gang members who managed to flee during the encounter, according to Major Zhakom.
The spokesperson for OPSH also took advantage of the occasion to reassure citizens of the military’s dedication to protecting people and property in the state.
