On Wednesday, Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), declared that President Bola Tinubu was the first Nigerian leader to tour the satellite towns surrounding Abuja.
Wike claimed that since taking office, Tinubu has bonded with the residents of the FCT’s rural districts.
He made this announcement when the dualized and improved Ushafa to War College/Army Check Point Roads and other ancillary roads in the Bwari Area Council were put into service.
In Tinubu’s place, Vice President Kashim Shettima ordered the project.
“This is the first time that a sitting president has visited a satellite town to establish a connection with the people there and to let them know that we will take care of them just as we do in the city,” he said.

Mr. President was in Kwali himself. You are here today, and you will be at Gwagwalada on Friday.
The president was represented by Speaker last Friday when the Kabusa-Ketti road was put into service. This has never occurred, and it demonstrates your affection for the people of the satellite town.
The minister also praised the president for completing the projects he had promised to commission in rural areas.
He continued: “When we wanted to get started, I met with the president to say that it would be more appreciated if you could schedule a visit to the rural area. Mr. president said that we would not only come once, but also one, two, and three times, and you have done that.”
“You have even exceeded it, and by Friday, it will be the fourth time. I want to sincerely thank you.”
