Former presidential candidate Professor Pat Utomi has stated his support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the platform to save Nigeria from her “present darkness.”
Utomi stated in an X post that the ADC should prioritize sacrificial service, national redemption, and giving future generations hope rather than just replacing incumbents.
In his own words: “Replacing incumbents alone must not be the solution. To redeem Nigeria and give our children hope again, it must be about selfless service.
According to Utomi, the ADC’s first presidential candidate in 2007, the new coalition leaders should concentrate on finding and training young, capable Nigerians for leadership roles.

In order to foster quick growth, he stated that the guardian class that recently assumed power would be well advised to concentrate on enlisting young, capable, brave individuals with a strong sense of duty and nation-building.
Notwithstanding their individual reputations, he said, all of the politicians over the past 15 years must take collective responsibility for the nation’s downfall and view the current political realignment as a time for introspection and atonement.
“Whether they were the good ones or not, all Nigerian politicians over the past 15 years must acknowledge that they are all responsible for the country’s decline into poverty and must view any current salvage effort as an act of atonement and self-reflection,” he said.
Utomi urged a change toward the common good and cautioned against the perils of “short-sighted narcissism” in power politics.
“They must put the common good ahead of themselves. “The community spirit that aims to bake a bigger pie for everyone must now triumph over the shortsighted narcissism that has led those in positions of power to unintentionally halt Nigeria’s progress,” he stated.
