According to reports, Babagana Zulum, the governor of Borno, has denied any intention to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In a widely shared social media post, Zulum and five other APC governors were allegedly finalizing their intentions to quit the ruling party.
In response, Zulum said in a statement on Sunday that the charge was “fictitious and mischievous” and that political critics had made it up.
The statement claims that “this is completely untrue and only exists in the imagination of its sponsors.”
These are critics who haven’t significantly advanced Nigeria or Borno State.
In order to divert our attention and generate needless political tension, it is a prime example of cheap, politically motivated speculation.
According to the governor, he is committed to the development of Borno and his “loyalty to the APC remains firm.”
Zulum urged media outlets and the general people to only trust reliable, official sources of information.
“I implore the decent people of Borno and the public at large to keep this lie to themselves. We are too busy with the admirable task of repairing and strengthening our beloved state to waste time on petty politics,” he continued.
“We are still committed to serving Borno state under the auspices of the APC, our great party.”
