The Indigenous People of Biafra Political Wing (IPOB-PW) has started to increase grassroots mobilization as Nigeria prepares for the general elections in 2027 and the next campaign for governor of Anambra. The group portrays itself as a political alternative that seeks to bring peace and security back to the Southeast.
According to a statement provided to the media, the group’s renewed political involvement is motivated by the continuous insecurity in Igboland, which includes violent attacks and homicides in states like Anambra, Enugu, and Benue.
To address the region’s instability, IPOB-PW maintains that political will is necessary, which they claim is currently lacking among leaders “made by Abuja” as opposed to elected with a strong local mandate.
Because most political figures in the area are either frightened or hesitant to take serious action, the killings in Alaigbo continue unabated. The group said, “Political action is needed to address the underlying cause of this insecurity.”
Despite conflicts with Fulani herders and worries about outside invasion, IPOB-PW insists that full political engagement is the best way to ensure Igbo safety and self-determination.
The group stressed that in order to create a wide-ranging campaign before 2027, it is actively contacting different grassroots organizations around the Southeast.

The group reminded its supporters to be calm but watchful while restating its goal to eradicate insecurity politically.
It also urged authorities to hold those responsible for the recent wave of violence in the area accountable.
“Crime will persist unless those responsible are held accountable. The statement ended, “IPOB-PW is dedicated to guiding the political ship of Alaigbo toward safety, justice, and dignity. Our people need political emancipation.”
Given Nigeria’s complicated security and governance issues, the group’s remarks coincide with escalating discussions about the place of regional movements in national politics.
