Oborevwori Commiserates with Urhobo Nation on Loss of Beloved Ohworode

The governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed his deepest condolences to the Olomu Kingdom and the larger Urhobo community in the wake of the passing of HRM Ovie Macaulay Popo Ovbagbedia, JP, Uhurhie-Osadjere II, the Ohworode of Olomu.

Olorogun Albert Akpomudje, SAN, the Otota (traditional prime minister) of Olomu, announced the monarch’s death at a ceremony held on Saturday at the royal palace in the Ovwor-Olomu village, Ughelli South Local Government Area.

In a statement issued in Asaba on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Oborevwori hailed the deceased monarch as a legacy-leaving person of wisdom, peace, and cultural pride.

The governor urged the royal family, the Olomu Traditional Council, and every citizen of the kingdom to take solace in the great accomplishments and peaceful reign of the late monarch, who succeeded to the throne on May 20, 2023.

Oborevwori admitted that although the Ohworode’s rule was brief, it was marked by honor, modesty, and a great commitment to the progress and unification of his people.

He prayed for the king’s soul to rest in peace and for the kingdom to carry on through this trying time.
