The governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has been told by Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, not to look into the actions of his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.
Speaking at a public event in Benin City, the capital of Edo State, on Sunday night, Wike said that while he had personal reasons being in favor of an investigation, he was advising the new governor to focus his energies on development and governance.
In order to advance Edo State’s development, the former governor of Rivers State stated, “We must go through this life process.” Please don’t do it; I should have advised you to follow this man since I am aware of the struggles I have had.

The prosecution of Obaseki should be my responsibility, but what’s the point of life when God has given you a position? If that were his power, you wouldn’t be here, but God told him, “You don’t have it, and I’ve given it to whomever I want to give.”
“Leader, I understand your grief and the hardships you have endured; it was as though you were humiliated. I humiliated you, thus I was involved.
“I apologized on national television for what I did to you. Give it up and let them take their wahalla and go. Concentrate on Edo’s development, and you’ll see what you eventually accomplish.”
