In his lengthy money laundering case, which was brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose was released and found not guilty of any charges.
A Federal High Court in Lagos reportedly ruled on Tuesday, July 16, 2025, that the EFCC’s evidence was not sufficient to support the charges.
The court effectively decided that the prosecution had not proven a sufficient case against Fayose to support a further defense, upholding his no-case submission.
Keep in mind that during his time as governor, Fayose was on trial for charges that tangled with fraud and money laundering.
