There are a lot of rumors about Governor Ademola Adeleke’s political future because of the recent defection of two senators from Osun State who were elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to a previous source, on June 21, 2025, Senators Francis Fadahunsi (Osun East) and Olubiyi Fadeyi (Osun Central) resigned from the PDP, alleging “irreconcilable differences” within the party.
The state’s PDP and APC camps are tense after their departure because many people think Adeleke will be the next to leave.
Political circles are in a frenzy about the event, particularly among APC candidates for governor, some of whom are publicly opposed to Adeleke joining the party.
Governance in Osun has apparently been halted by the continuous political volatility, with government operations coming to a near complete standstill in recent weeks.
Senator Iyiola Omisore, the former APC National Secretary and Deputy Governor of Osun State, reportedly cautioned Governor Adeleke against what he called an attempt to “join the APC through the backdoor” in response to the escalating rumors, according to Vanguard.

Instead of approaching some fellow governors to sneak him into the APC, Omisore advised the governor to speak with the state’s party leaders. It is unclear to us party members whether he will join us if neither the state chairman nor the national chairman are aware of his arrival.
Adeleke’s decision to join the APC cannot be stopped, but Omisore highlighted the significance of appropriate political involvement and deliberation.
In contrast, Oladele Oyelude, the Coordinator of the Tinubu-Shettima Ambassadors, publicly supported Adeleke’s purported plan to join the ruling party. The governor is “a big addition,” he said, and his popularity might help President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 reelection campaign.
It would be incorrect for party leaders—particularly those who were appointed by the president—to appear as though they are attempting to thwart Governor Adeleke’s attempt to join the APC. His continued popularity with the public is a huge benefit for the president and the party. He stated, “I believe we should allow him to join the party before we discuss other interests.”
