Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, has debunked an online claim alleging that the 2025 WAEC exams were cancelled due to rampant test misconduct.
In dispelling the rumor, the minister, through Boriowo Folasade
The Director of Press and Public Relations announced on Sunday that the 2025 WAEC tests were successfully completed, with just a few isolated incidences of malpractice reported.
It stated that all isolated incidents were quickly handled by the appropriate authorities.
Alausa stated, “The Federal Ministry of Education has been alerted to a fake and misleading statement circulating online, alleging the cancellation of the 2025 WAEC tests due to rampant examination misconduct.

“The ministry wants to completely separate itself from this misleading news and clarify the following: The 2025 WAEC examinations were successfully completed, with just a few rare cases of malpractice reported, all of which were swiftly dealt by the appropriate authorities.
“The ongoing NECO examinations are proceeding smoothly, and as of this release, no incidences of examination malpractice have been documented.
“The Federal Ministry of Education has not received any official communication or report from WAEC, NECO, or any examination body regarding widespread malpractice in either of the examinations” .
However, the Education Ministry has asked students, parents, school officials, and the general public to disregard the present bogus press release.
According to the ministry, it is completely manufactured, misleading, and designed to cause unneeded alarm and confusion.
“The public is advised to seek information only from verified and credible sources, including: The official website of the Federal Ministry of Education: www.education.gov.ng” .
The ministry stated that it is still completely dedicated to ensuring the integrity, credibility, and orderly conduct of all public examinations and would continue to collaborate closely with examination bodies to increase monitoring and enforcement measures.
It cautioned that anyone who spreads false information would be reported to the proper security services for inquiry and prosecution.
