Prior to the 2027 presidential election, Datti Baba-Ahmed, the previous Labour Party (LP) vice presidential candidate, has denied rumors that he and Peter Obi are at odds, stating that their relationship is still solid.
Despite continuous rumors of political rifts between him and Obi, Datti made it apparent in a popular video clip on X that they remain united.
You’re implying that if a crack exists, it doesn’t exist. Furthermore, there will never be a crack thanks to the Almighty God’s blessing. Breaking the APC’s skull is easier than mending the rift between us, he remarked.

Datti also discussed his devotion to the Labour Party, stating that he is still dedicated to the organization that offered him a chance in 2023.
As an ardent supporter of a party that has accomplished something no other party in Nigerian politics has, he declared unequivocally that “this party is one not to be abandoned.”
Datti disassociated himself from the ongoing ADC coalition negotiations on the subject of political coalitions.
He explained that even though he and Obi had gone to some of the meetings, it did not imply that they had defected from the Labour Party.
“A political party is not a coalition.” As far as I’m aware, Obi and I are still members of the Labour Party,” he stated.
He made it clear in the video that he is trying to bring the Labour Party together and that unity is more important to him than ambition.
“I want everyone to get back together.” “This is what a devoted and modest member does, and that’s what I’m doing,” he continued.
Following a meeting with LP National Chairman Julius Abure, he made statements that suggested their relationship had been repaired.
Abure also verified that Datti had announced his plan to run for the party’s presidential nomination in 2027.
