Former Labour Party Vice Presidential candidate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has indicated that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike is hurt by the betrayal he suffered from a close friend.
Baba-Ahmed stated on Arise Television’s Prime Time program on Tuesday that Wike’s position in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leadership issue may be justified by this hurt.
While claiming that the PDP did not treat Wike fairly, he stated that the FCT Minister kept the party going while others were absent.
According to the former vice presidential candidate, Wike’s acquaintance betrayed him at a vital juncture during the PDP’s presidential primary.
“You know, I don’t agree with what Wike is doing, but he is somewhat right. I’m trying to say that whatever he’s doing, deep down in his mind, I’m remotely psyching how he thinks and so on,” Baba-Ahmed said.
“Right in Eagle Square, in the light of the entire world, during a party he hosted while others were abroad, a very close friend of his backstabbed him at the most important moment.
“According to him, ‘these are two northerners who tricked me; these are two Hausa-Fulanis; these are two Muslims who cheated me, and I will teach them a lesson.’ Here’s Wike.

“So, humanely speaking, I want to be fair to him. Whoever gets mistreated will undoubtedly fight back. It did not seem fair.
“I used to advise these folks to be cautious, even in their political deeds, when they ask for treachery, and when they use trickery. There are times when you can heal someone beyond their wildest dreams.
“Well, the people who did this to Wike, you know, they come from a very rich history with what he did for them in 2011, the relationship, the friendship, how it lasted, how far it went, and then they did this to him.” He is going to destroy the celebration. He is a human.”
