The singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, better known by his stage name Portable, has denied VeryDarkMan’s accusations of stealing.
VeryDarkMan reportedly urged President Bola Tinubu to address the ongoing Benue killings and the nation’s economic hardship, which sparked the twosome’s feud.
In response to this event, the singer said in an Instagram video that VeryDarkMan should stop criticizing the President, claiming that VeryDarkMan began to enjoy a lavish lifestyle under Tinubu’s rule.

In retaliation, VeryDarkMan released an old video showing Portable being assaulted for supposedly stealing a Keke in 2020, before he rose to fame.

With the chant “Ole!” (thief), VeryDarkMan mocked Portable for stealing a tricycle in a diss track on Wednesday morning.

In a response to VeryDarkMan, Portable called the social media critic “gay” and denied taking the tricycle.

“Your mother, VeryDarkMan. You’re a poor person. Your dad makes shoes. My father is my ancestor. I am not a thief. “Stop calling me a thief,” he sang.

Portable has since provided clarification on the incidents that resulted in him and his previous record label being accused of phone theft.

In an Instagram statement on Monday, July 21, 2025, Portable reportedly revealed that the owner of Destiny Records had given him a phone when he was working there, but that he left the company because of a lack of support, which he received negative feedback about.

The proprietor of the label, Ija Omode, who is currently the Vice Chairman of the Union of Road Transport in Ogun State, gave Portable a phone while he was working for Destiny Records. Portable made the decision to quit because of the label’s lack of support. But this sparked animosity.

Upon his departure, label personnel seized the phone, circumvented its password, and proceeded to publicly degrade Portable by stripping him and falsely accusing him of stealing. Later, Naijakit shared a video of this occurrence online.

He claimed that after his departure, some label employees took the phone by force, got past the passcode, and publicly humiliated him by stripping him and falsely accused him of stealing.

The “Zazu Zaeh” crooner added that although those connected to the incident had spoken with him privately, they had not publicly corrected the story.

Portable said that the former label’s actions were blatant instances of bullying and intimidation, and that the clarification was made to correct the record and shield up-and-coming artists from being treated similarly, not as payback.

“This is to clarify a previous incident where Portable was falsely accused of phone theft,” the statement says.

“This is an obvious instance of a record label bullying and intimidating someone.” Portable is now speaking up to correct the record and shield up-and-coming musicians from the same kind of exploitation, not to exact retribution.

“The goal of this statement is to promote justice, transparency, and the truth.”
