After months of speculation, Nigerian sensation Victor Osimhen has officially joined Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray SK in a huge €75 million transfer from Napoli, capping off one of the greatest summer transactions.
When 26-year-old Victor Osimhen arrived in Istanbul on Wednesday night, July 30, 2025, dozens of joyful Galatasaray supporters flocked to the airport to greet him.
As supporters yelled his name, Osimhen, clearly moved, grinned and waved as fireworks lit up the night and chants reverberated through the throng.
In a series of social media posts that included a dramatic video montage of Osimhen’s arrival and behind-the-scenes airport footage, Galatasaray soon declared that he had joined the team permanently.
Prior to that, the team had spent hours teasing supporters by broadcasting a livestream of the Nigerian international’s arrival in the city.

Victor Osimhen is no stranger in this situation. According to reports, the Nigerian striker was on loan at Galatasaray for the previous season. There, he immediately made an impression, scoring important goals and winning over many supporters.
The club’s board was persuaded to make a permanent commitment by his 2024–2025 campaign performances.
A €40 million upfront payment this summer, an extra €35 million due in 2026, and an additional €5 million in performance-related add-ons make up the transfer’s structure, which indicates Galatasaray’s determined investment.
Osimhen departs Napoli with a proud demeanor. He played a key role in the team that won the 2023 Scudetto, a historic victory that put an end to the team’s decades-long championship drought. He was widely regarded as one of Europe’s best strikers due to his performance in Italy.
