Following the rejection of their £110 million bid, Liverpool is ready to give up on acquiring Alexander Isak, a striker for Newcastle United.
In an attempt to entice Alexander Isak to Anfield this summer, the Premier League champions encountered strong opposition from the Magpies, who are apparently demanding an incredible £150 million asking price.
Newcastle has maintained that Isak is not for sale, even though the clubs started preliminary negotiations in July. Liverpool did, however, legally submit a bid of £110 million on August 1st, which was quickly turned down.

According to a BBC Sports report, Liverpool may now back out of the agreement because, according to insiders, the club believes there is little hope of working out a move under the current conditions.
Isak was reportedly left out of Newcastle’s preseason squad for their Asia tour, with the team citing a “minor thigh injury” as the reason for his absence.
Nevertheless, despite Newcastle’s qualification for this season’s UEFA Champions League, reports in England claim that the midfielder is keen to investigate a transfer.
At his old team Real Sociedad, where he is still a fan favorite after his brilliant La Liga stint before moving to Newcastle in 2022 for £60 million, he has apparently been exercising alone.
Earlier, Liverpool, led by coach Arne Slot, had considered a deal for Isak that may have cost up to £130 million. Hugo Ekitike, a Swedish forward, was still a target for the Reds even after they paid £69 million to sign him from Eintracht Frankfurt.
This transfer window, Slot’s team has already made significant investments in Armin Pecsi, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Kerkez.
An estimated £265 million was spent in total, while approximately £115 million was made via the departure of important players including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jarell Quansah, Caoimhin Kelleher, and Luis Diaz.
Having finished as Newcastle’s leading scorer with 27 goals in 42 games in 2024–2025, Isak’s reputation has skyrocketed.
Even though Alexander Isak was a top target, Liverpool now seems prepared to put the transfer plans on hold until Newcastle changes their mind.
