During a bloody gunfight in Fegin Kanawa village, Wonaka District of Gusau Local Government Area, security personnel in Zamfara State have killed eight bards.
The altercation occurred on Friday at approximately 4:30 p.m. when a combined squad of Fegin Mahe village police officers and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF) responded to intelligence reports of an imminent attack.
Zagazola Makama claimed that the bandits had taken up positions in order to ambush the crew as they reached the location.
While several of the attackers retreated into surrounding bushes with minor injuries, eight of them were killed by the security personnel’s overwhelming force back fire.
During the encounter, Inspector Tasi’u Lawali of the 42 Police Mobile Force, Gusau, was wounded in the mouth and hand.
He was taken right away to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Gusau, where his condition is said to be stable.
In an effort to find the escaping culprits, police have stepped their bush-combing efforts in the aftermath.
