His Excellency Prof. Chukwuma Soludo CFR, the Governor of Anambra State, has praised May & Baker Nigeria PLC for creating locally at the Pharmacentre, a May & Baker Ultramodern factory in Ota, Ogun State.
Upon arriving at the 2025 ACPN conference, which was recently held in Awka, Anambra State, Governor Soludo made his first stop at the May & Baker exhibit stand. The majority of the medications on display were made locally at the Pharmacenter, a May & Baker Ultramodern facility in Ota, which impressed the governor.

When he met with the governor, Pharm Patrick Ajah, the managing director and chief executive officer of May & Baker, emphasized M&B’s commitment to investing in innovation and high-quality locally produced pharmaceuticals as the country’s first pharmaceutical company. According to him, the investment in the herbal factory, which produces cutting-edge herbal medicines made by Nigerian researchers using locally sourced herbs, was particularly noteworthy.
Ajah talked about two such products: Niclovix, from the Nigerian Institute for Pharmaceutical Research (NIPRD) in Abuja, and Roveda, made from the local bitter leaf and the result of research by a Nigerian scientist, Prof. Izevbigie, who is the vice chancellor of Benson Idahosa University in Benin City.
Both products are manufactured at the May & Baker herbal facility and are sold by May & Baker.
The governor, who listened intently, inquired about the drugs’ intended uses and the individuals for whom they were intended.
When Soludo inquired about the investment M&B is making in Anambra State, the MD/CEO replied that May & Baker presently operates a depot operation in Onitsha and is currently constructing her own facility there.
