The NYSC has denied allegations that it denied Ushie Rita Uguamaye (state code LA/24B/8325), a corps member, her Certificate of National Service (CNS) due to supposed anti-government comments.
The NYSC insisted that the decision was made for legitimate disciplinary reasons in accordance with its bye-laws, calling the accusation “entirely unfounded and false in its entirety” in a statement submitted on its official page.
Ms. Ushie is among 131 corps members whose certifications were revoked due to a variety of violations, according to the NYSC. Because she was unable to attend the biometric clearing exercise in April 2025, her service year was prolonged by two months.
“The NYSC Management wishes to clarify false information circulating on social media regarding Corps Member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, State Code number LA/24B/8325,” the message said. False accusations that she was refused a Certificate of National Service (CNS) because she made anti-government comments are completely untrue and unsubstantiated.

Rita is one of the 131 members of the Corps whose Certificates of National Service (CNS) were denied for legitimate disciplinary reasons. As a result of Rita’s failure to attend the April 2025 biometrics clearing, her service year has been extended by two months, in accordance with the NYSC Bye-Laws.
It is significant to remember that the equal treatment principle was only used in this instance and that this extension is a routine practice rather than being specific to her case.
Because prolonging service for non-compliance is a traditional NYSC tradition and shouldn’t be politicized, the NYSC Management therefore asks the public to handle this issue with understanding.
“The NYSC Scheme is still dedicated to fulfilling its mandate in accordance with the constitution’s requirements.”
