Fuel prices at all of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s (NNPCL) retail locations have been lowered to ₦865 per liter in Lagos and ₦890 per liter in Abuja.
The previous pricing per liter in both cities were ₦875 and ₦900, respectively, thus this represents a ₦10 decrease. Several NNPC filling stations had the revised pricing, according to checks conducted by The Cable on Friday.
The price of gasoline was ₦865 per liter at the company’s store in Abule Ado, Lagos, and ₦890 per liter at the NNPC station in Abuja, which is situated in the Federal Housing Authority, Kubwa.
On August 6, just two days after boosting petrol prices to ₦915 and ₦955 respectively, NNPC lowered them to ₦875 in Lagos and ₦900 in Abuja. This most recent decrease only occurs nine days later.
Additionally, Dangote Petroleum Refinery announced a price reduction on August 12 from ₦850 to ₦820 per liter.

Reaffirming its dedication to Nigeria’s economic growth, the refinery promised the people a consistent supply of petroleum products.
“The public is guaranteed a steady and uninterrupted supply of petroleum products as part of our unwavering commitment to national development,” the statement read.
4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks will be deployed for gasoline distribution around the country as part of the company’s environmental initiative.
With effect from August 15, 2025, Dangote continued, “We will begin the phased deployment of 4,000 CNG-powered trucks for fuel distribution across Nigeria.”
