A 30-year-old woman, Adama Hannafi, has committed suicide by hanging herself to death in Sumore village, Dutse Local Government , Jigawa State.
The deceased, who murdered herself at about 3 00pm.on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, hung herself on a tree.
Witnesses affirmed that the remains of the woman were discovered by passersby ,who promptly alerted the police.
Jigsaw State Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO),SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said a team of officers from the Yalwawa Division had visited the scene.
“Upon arrival, the team found the lifeless body of the woman hanging on a tree. The body was carefully lowered, examined, and no foul play was suspected,” he stated.
Shiisu added that the body of the deceased was taken to Dutse General Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed her dead.
Preliminary investigation, according to the police, revealed that the deceased had been struggling with mental health challenges before the incident
Commissioner Police,Jigaaa State Command ,Dahiru Muhammad, expressed sorrow over the tragèdy and urged the public to show empathy to relatives or neighbours exhibiting signs of mental distress.
He further advised families to seek medical and psychological assistance promptly to prevent similar tragedies.
