Police arrest 4 ABSU students over unlawful possession of firearms, 2 women for child theft

Abia State Police Command has arrested four students of Abia State University, Uturu (ABSU), for unlawful possession of firearms, criminal conspiracy, robbery and belonging to unlawful society.
This is even as the command said it has nabbed two ladies over child theft and rescued three stolen children.
A release by Abia state police public relations officer (PPRO), Maureen Chinaka said the arrested suspects include: Emmanuel Ifeanyi, 22; Adiwo Chukwuemeka, 27; Ogbonna John, 27 and Hope Worenwu, 23, all students of ABSU.
The release said the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters on October 27, received complaint from a student of ABSU, who alleged that he was accosted, assaulted and dispossessed of his phone by some people.
Based on the information, detectives of the Uturu Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended the suspects.
Chinaka said during a search, the following items were recovered from them: One double-barrel locally made gun, four live cartridges, one black mask, three caps with two bearing the emblem of De Norsemen Club International, one IPhone 12 and one REDMI phone which was identified by the victim as the one taken from him.
The release added that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Vikings Confraternity.
It said the case was transferred to the Anti-Cultism Unit of the Command and investigation is ongoing.
Efforts she said are in progress to apprehend other members of the gang.
Meanwhile, the command said it has arrested two women in respect of the theft of three children.
A released signed by Chinaka revealed that on October 4, the Command received a report that the widow of late Ukachukwu Ojimadu, Chinasa Ukachukwu, female, 31, left home with her four children under the guise of attending a child dedication in Aba.
It was said she returned two days later with only one of her children and could not give an account of the remaining three children.
Ukachukwu was arrested and investigation revealed she allegedly sold her three children to Adaoma Sunday, 30, who has also been arrested.
The three children were said to have been rescued in Aba, Lagos, and Anambra, respectively. The Police said the suspects have been charged to court.
In the meantime, Abia state police command said sequel to its press release on October 10, regarding the rescue of eight infants and 10 stolen children, that Akinrinola Aliya Ayomide, from Lagos, has identified one of the children as Akinrinola Aliyat Ayomide, with all necessary documents and has been reunited with his daughter.
On the same strength, Oladapo Olanipekun, also from Lagos, identified Master Olanipekun Akoede Daniel,with necessary documents and has been reunited with his family.
The command urged anyone whose child is missing to visit the Gender Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) or contact the Gender Section of the Command.
