Troops rescue 74 Corps members in Borno

Seventy four stranded members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been rescued by Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Operation Hadin Kai of the Nigerian Army .
Daily Sun gathered that the corps members were rescued along the Buratai – Kamuya road in Borno State.
The rescue, according to the Army, occurred at about 9:05pm, when troops detected unusual movement involving three buses which broke down near a Boko Haram crossing point, through a Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) camera, and sent a patrol team to the location.
A statement from Operation Hadin Kai Media Officer, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba said a total of 74 corps members, including 36 males and 38 females, were successfully rescued by the troops, adding that the Army has secured the area to prevent further attacks on the residents by terrorists, who operate in the area.
It was further learnt that the corps members were escorted by Troops of the 7 Division Garrison from Maiduguri to Damaturu, before continuing their journey to Hawul Local Government .
The rescued corps members are currently being accommodated at the Buratai Military Base, pending further arrangements for their safe return to their respective destinations.
The statement quoted the Nigerian Army as reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of all citizens and would continue to maintain a strong security presence across operational theatres to deny terrorists freedom of action and ensure lasting peace in the North East.
