Abuja – June 26, 2025 – In a move creating fresh political debate ahead of the 2027 general elections, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, held a strategic consultation with former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, in Abuja.
The meeting, which took place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Malami’s office, was verified by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, interim national coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide. Sharing the news via a post on X (previously Twitter), Tanko described the meeting as part of Peter Obi’s continuous efforts to establish coalitions across Nigeria’s political landscape.

“Today, the 25th of June 2025, the Obidient Movement has attracted another senior member into the fold. This is part of our objective to establish bridges and liberate Nigerians from the sufferings they endure daily,” Tanko stated.
Photographs posted from the meeting show Obi and Malami in friendly discussion, fueling suspicion about a possible alignment or political partnership. However, Tanko later clarified in an interview with TheCable that while the meeting was noteworthy, Malami has not formally joined the Obidient Movement.
The Obidient Movement, which emerged as a significant political force during the 2023 elections, continues to gain momentum as a platform for change, public involvement, and cross-party discussion
