Liverpool has increased their efforts to capture Alexander Isak of Newcastle United, formally attempting to do so in a deal that might cost an incredible £120 million.
David Ornstein, a well-known transfer insider, stated on Tuesday that the Reds have indicated their intention to bring Isak to Anfield, even though no formal bid has yet been submitted. Newcastle has made it clear, though, that the 25-year-old is not up for sale.
After moving from Real Sociedad for £60 million, Isak has been a sensation at St. James’ Park, scoring 27 goals in 42 games throughout his stellar season.
Newcastle finished in fifth position and qualified for the Champions League thanks to his efforts. He has made 109 appearances for the Magpies in all competitions, scoring 62 goals.
“Liverpool is serious,” Gregg Evans, the club correspondent, stated. “The desire to build on last season’s title success and dominate for years to come is highlighted by Liverpool’s interest in Isak.”
After Diogo Jota passed away earlier this month, Liverpool’s search for a top-tier striker got even more pressing. The club was rocked by the loss and had a big hole in their attacking options.

As a result, Liverpool has begun a summer of intense hiring. For an initial £100 million, they broke their transfer record by acquiring German sensation Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, with add-ons potentially increasing the total to £116 million.
As they continue to focus on bolstering their roster in preparation for the upcoming campaign, the Reds recently turned down a €67.5 million offer from Bayern Munich for Colombian winger Luis Diaz.
This unexpected drive for Isak, however, might be influenced by a subplot. Even though Darwin Núñez has had moments of genius, Napoli and the Saudi team Al Hilal are interested in him. Liverpool will want a strong No. 9 to start at the top if he leaves.
