Adamu Garba, a former presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), believes that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lost public trust.
According to reports, Garba stated this during an interview on AIT’s Focus Nigeria programme.
The APC chairman stated that the PDP is no longer an Iroko tree, but rather a cucumber.
According to Garba, the PDP is on a self-destructive path, and the party will fail to achieve anything in the 2027 election.
He remarked, “The symbolism of a tree can be used to determine if a party or society is expanding. You have roots, you grow and produce fruits, you drop seeds, and they start growing again.
“But what we are seeing today is that they are returning to the roots after all of the branches have dried up and the leaves have disappeared.

“An Iroko tree has a 100-year lifespan, but PDP is not an Iroko tree; instead, I believe it is a cucumber because it has died.
“To the best of my knowledge, the PDP has lost the public’s trust, so I don’t want to label them as anything in the upcoming 2027 election.
“PDP members are to blame for the party’s self-destruction. You saw the conflict between the FCT Minister and the former Vice President who was present, as well as the internal difficulties that arose during their most recent convention; there is a lot of disarray within the PDP.
“They really caused their self-destruction and that is why they are now organising themselves in a nostalgic mode to replay the game of 1998, 1999 and see the possibility of if they will ever survive.”
