Hyacinth Alia, the governor of Benue, disbanded the State Executive Council (SEC) on Wednesday.
Alia gave newsmen in Makurdi access to a statement announcing the dissolution, which was signed by his chief press secretary, Mr. Tersoo Kula.
According to Kula, at the conclusion of the 12th (2025) SEC meeting, the governor notified the council members of the dissolution.
The governor instructed the commissioners to turn over as quickly as possible to the permanent secretaries of respective ministries, according to the top press secretary.
He advised individuals who might not be reappointed to stay in the party and expressed gratitude to all of the past commissioners who collaborated with him for two years.

According to him, those who would not be reappointed are merely opening the door for other citizens to make their fair share of contributions to the state’s progress.
In the meantime, the governor has given his approval for Mr. Moses Atagher, a lawyer, to be appointed as the new Chief of Staff immediately in order to replace Mr. Paul Biam.
Atagher has served two terms as the state’s attorney general and commissioner of justice, according to Kula.
Atagher, a seasoned administrator, was the Federal Mortgage Bank’s previous acting managing director.
Mr. Bemsen Mnyim, the immediate past Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order, spoke on behalf of the dissolved commissioners and thanked the governor for providing them with the chance to serve the state.
Everywhere you are called to serve is a school, regardless of your stage in life. Working with you has taught us a lot,” he remarked.
