The ECK Foundation President, Dr. Emeka Kalu, has thrown his weight behind Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential campaign, highlighting the former vice president’s qualities to lift the nation out of its current state of economic and security stupor.
In a statement released Thursday, Kalu highlighted Atiku’s perseverance and experience as crucial elements that made him a formidable contender to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential contest.
According to him, backing Atiku might be a calculated move on the part of the Igbo people, opening the door for Mr. Peter Obi later on and allowing the Igbo community to have a voice in the balance of power in Nigeria.
He emphasized that Atiku’s vision and leadership skills were crucial for reviving Nigeria’s economy, pointing out that his time as vice president demonstrated his capacity to promote trade investments, economic liberalization, and job creation.
Additionally, he emphasized that Atiku was the best candidate to bring Nigeria together because of his political capacity to build bridges across its many areas.

He asserted that Atiku’s widespread appeal had the power to unite people across political and ethnic differences.
He went on to say: “An Atiku presidency will result in major improvements in infrastructure, security, and investment, which will ultimately revitalize Nigeria’s flagging economy.”
Furthermore, Atiku is a detribalized Nigerian who has the ability to unite people. It is unfortunate that ethnic tensions have long afflicted Nigeria’s political system.
Additionally, Kalu emphasized the significance of opposition parties standing together, cautioning that any coalition lacking a common goal would be futile.
In addition, he called on Nigerians to support Atiku’s campaign, stating that he believes the People’s Democratic Party (PDP)’s 2023 presidential candidate will need selfless, competent, and trustworthy leadership to restore Nigeria’s economic stability.
