The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the official schedule of events and timetable for the Ekiti State gubernatorial election in 2026, outlining important dates and procedures for candidates and party members.
According to reports, Sulaiman Argungu, the party’s National Organising Secretary, signed the schedule, which was posted on the APC’s official 𝕏 account on Friday. It outlines the schedule for the governorship election that is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026.
On Friday, July 25, 2025, the State Chapter received the Notice of Election. Then, on July 28, 2025, the Update of Membership Register got underway, and it will end on Friday, August 15, 2025.
The APC emphasized that “only members whose names are on the register and who have paid their dues on time will be eligible to vote and be voted for.”
On Monday, August 18th, nomination and expression of interest forms for the governorship ticket will go on sale. The deadline is Monday, September 2, 2025. Delegate and completed forms must be turned in by Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Congress Delegates, Screening, and Primaries
As stated in the announcement, the candidates will be screened from Tuesday, September 23, to Wednesday, September 24, 2025, and the results will be released on Friday, September 25, 2025.

By Saturday, September 26, 2025, appeals against screening findings must be submitted.
The Delegate Congress will take place on Thursday, October 2, 2025, and on Friday, October 3, 2025, the Delegate Congress Appeal will take place.
Appeals will be heard between Wednesday, October 29, and Thursday, October 30, 2025, following the party’s primary election for governor on Monday, October 27, 2025.
According to the 2022 Electoral Act, a congress will convene on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, to certify the results of the gubernatorial primary election.
The list of nominated candidates will be sent to the National Working Committee (NWC) by Wednesday, January 7, 2026, and candidates will be able to obtain access codes for online form submission starting on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The deadline for completing the final list of candidates that will be posted on the INEC portal is Friday, January 16, 2026.
A grand finale is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2026, two days prior to the election, with campaign activities formally beginning on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Nomination Form Cost
The APC estimated that the cost of the governorship nomination forms would be ₦50 million, with the Expression of Interest form costing ₦10 million and the Nomination form costing ₦40 million.
Individuals with disabilities and female candidates only need to pay for the Expression of Interest form; the Nomination Form will be sent free of charge.
A 50% discount on the Nomination Form will be given to candidates between the ages of 25 and 40 who pay for the Expression of Interest form.
In order to be eligible, a delegate must have contributed at least ₦200 per month for at least three months before to the congress, and the form will cost ₦5,000.
