A jealous lover simply identified as Power has killed his girlfriend for allegedly cheating on him at Igbo Eche area of Port- Harcourt, River State.
The suspect, who is currently on the run was said to have butchered the single mother with a sharp machete in the most horrific manner.
According to a family source, Power whose other name is not known and Confidence Sunny had been lovers since Confidence returned from Dubai few years ago.
The family source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity told our reporter  that, ” On July 29, my sister visited her boyfriend, Power and slept over ,but on the following day, July 30, Power called my 70 -old -mother, to come and pick her daughter’s body in his house. The message looked strange and ridiculous,it was unbelievable that a lady who left home the healthy the previous day would just die, but for more emphasis, the messenger went further to say that he had murdered her, So, my sister’s son decided to rush to Power’s house.
” When the 13-year-old boy arrived the place,what he saw was better imagined. When he arrived there,he knocked, but no one responded,so, he peeped through the window only to see the nude body of his mother lying in the pool of her blood. The little boy started shouting and his noise attracted the attention of the neighbours and passersby, who throng to the place.
” Some of the sympathizers tried to break into the house,but elders and community leaders on ground ,suggested that no one should break the door,so, they invited the police at Umuebule Police Station,who came to the crime scene,took some exhibits, evidence, including the newly sharpened cutlass which Power used to matchet her.
” Power used his phone to call one of our brothers, a security personnel, who he told how he killed our sister for allegedly cheating on him. He claimed that my sister was befriending a Commercial tricycle operator (Keke), my brother was shocked and asked him if it was for real or he was joking. Power told him that he wouldn’t joke with death. He went further to tell my brother that he understood why well that as a security agent, he would go after him, but warned that he was fully prepared and waiting for him. My brother called Confidence’s phone number,but Power still picked the call, meaning that he was still around after killing our sister.
” First,my sister wouldn’t have befriended a Keke Rider, because she was highly sophisticated woman . This was a woman who lived in South Africa for years, before relocating to Dubai from where she came home and met this beast that sent her to an early grave.
” My sister would still be alive if she had listened to the advice of my brother,a security personnel ,who cautioned her that the man is irresponsible and too jealous to a fault. Power was always jealous to a fault that whenever he saw someone greeting my sister,he would start making troubles. I want to say that power did not bring any drink to declare his intention to marry my sister. What right has Power to take the life of a woman that is not his wife? He is on the run ,but he has murdered sleep and he will sleep no more.
” My 70- year old mother, Comfort Sunny, is devastated. My sister was a child after her heart . My sister’s son,a minor, saw what has caused him emotional and psychological trauma. Seeing his  mother’s body lying cold dead with matchete cuts all over her body has been giving him nightmares.
” We are calling on security agencies , especially the Nigeria Police to help us fish out Power and make him face the consequences of his actions. He is not even remorseful and has threatened to kill more family members, especially my brother, the security personnel,who he said he was ready for his actions.
” I want to repeat thar Power did not bring drinks to either to us in Porth Harcourt or our home Town, Ogoni. He was just a boyfriend to my sister. I don’t know where it is done that man should kill his girlfriend for cheating on him . That is why we are calling for thorough police investigation because there is more to the killing than meet the eyes. How come that there was a newly sharpened cutlass at the scene? His actions were predetermined. He prepared for our sister and she fell into his trap. That why I am advising ladies to be careful who they take as lovers.”
