By killing more than 100 terrorists in a combined air and ground attack on Makakkari Forest in Bukuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State, the Nigerian military has struck a serious blow to armed bandits in the north.
Zagazola Makama, a security analyst, revealed the revelation in a post on his X account.
The action reportedly started early on Sunday when Nigerian Air Force jets hit bandit locations that reconnaissance drones had located. At the same time, ground soldiers moved forward, demolishing the bandits’ base and destroying motorcycles.

According to information obtained by Operation FANSAN YANMA, around 400 armed combatants had assembled in Makakkari Forest under the leadership of infamous kingpins. The local farming village of Nasarawan Burkullu was their objective.
After been recently defeated by security troops, the bandits allegedly plotted the raid to regroup and retaliate. They did, however, fall into a prearranged trap.
According to Zagazola’s sources, ground forces intercepted those who attempted to escape, and many of the top bandit leaders were slain before they could react.
Air and ground elements worked closely together to make the mission a success.
Bandit organizations and their support systems will continue to be under pressure from Operation FANSAN YANMA.
“Banditry is fueled by impunity and terror. The sources stated, “We are dismantling both, one operation at a time.”
