The former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has been cautioned by former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode to exercise caution in his comments against the Yoruba people.
Lawal was said to have said earlier that the Yorubas are untrustworthy.
After they succeed, he said, Yorubas tend to minimize the assistance they get from others.
The Yoruba have the problem of acting as though they have subdued you when you back them and they win, Babachir stated. Your assistance won’t be taken into account.
On Wednesday, Fani-Kayode cautioned via X that disparaging an entire race would make Lawal’s argument less strong.

His writing said, “My dear brother Babachir Lawal, I advise you to be very careful with your words and your characterization of an entire race.”
Although you are aware of my affection for you, disparaging the Yoruba ethnicity does not support your position. It makes you less credible, weakens your case, and devalues you.
Additionally, Fani-Kayode reminded Babachir that he was also nominated by President Bola Tinubu for the SGF post in the administration of the late Muhammadu Buhari.
