In order to maintain friendships beyond their service year, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director-General Brig.-Gen. Olakunle O. Nafiu has encouraged corps members to form friendships across regions.
Speaking to the corps members of the 2025 Batch “B” Stream 1 at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Dakingari, Suru Local Government Area, Kebbi State, on Friday, Nafiu offered the counsel.

He encouraged the corps members to accept their postings without protest, particularly to rural areas where they could make enduring contributions, and stated that building ties was part of the scheme’s goal of encouraging national unity.
According to the NYSC head, they should save some of their allowances, look into funding opportunities from partner agencies, and take the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program seriously because of the intense competition for jobs.
He urged corps members to honor their host towns’ cultures, utilize social media sensibly, and stay away from anything that can be interpreted as undermining national ideals.
