Mohammed Yusuf’s son, who is eighteen years old, was taken into custody by security agents in Chad.
Zagazola Makama verified that the juvenile fighter, named Abdrahman Yusuf, was allegedly captured by Chadian security forces in a concerted operation with five other militants.
He was in charge of a terrorist cell with six members that was associated with the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a Boko Haram offshoot group, according to sources.
Photos that Zagazola was able to collect revealed a young man, short and thin, wearing a blue tracksuit, much like his father, standing with a group of obviously older prisoners.
Abdrahman is the younger brother of ISWAP’s current leader, Habib Yusuf, also known as Abu Mus’ab Al-Barnawi, according to intelligence sources. Chadian authorities did not provide particular information about the identities of the six accused Boko Haram/ISWAP militants they claimed had been arrested.

The founder of Boko Haram, Mohammed Yusuf, was assassinated on July 30, 2009, in Maiduguri while being held by Nigerian soldiers. His son is said to have been indoctrinated into extremism from a young age, having apparently been born in Nigeria prior to the escalation of the conflict.
In the Lake Chad region, he has lately become a field commander after rising through the ranks of ISWAP.
“Chadian security forces arrested him and his team. A total of six of them are present. “He was the cell’s leader,” a source attested.
In the ongoing regional effort to dismantle terrorist cells operating throughout the Lake Chad Basin, the arrest is being embraced as a major victory.
