In its fight against cybercrime, the Nigeria Police Force has provided training to 192 officers nationwide on how to use the Athena Forensic Intelligence Solution (AFIS).
Officers from all 36 state commands, the Federal Capital Territory, and 10 specialized units participated in the training, which took place from July 9 to August 15, 2025, and was organized in collaboration with Radio Tactics Group Limited.
The Force claims that the program’s goal was to better investigations by enhancing forensic and digital skills.
Officers received training on spotting threats and processing information from satellite phones, GPS units, SIM cards, and other mobile devices.
Additionally, they were proficient in biometric capture and the application of forensic hotlists to link operational data with intelligence information.

The police announced the arrest of three criminals while stepping up their efforts to combat cybercrime.
Gbenga Samuel, Dele Titus, and Olalekan Oke were arrested for online fraud, identity theft, and cyberstalking in Abuja and Lagos.
According to the results of the investigation, on July 18, 2025, the suspects compromised a WhatsApp account, got in touch with the owner, and demanded ₦3 million in order to keep private information safe.
They were arrested and the compromised account was recovered after forensic investigation linked the activity to them.
In order to combat cybercrime, the Force would continue to use digital strategies and enhance officer training, according to Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
