A Magistrate Court in Osogbo, Osun State, has remanded four men, including a 64-year-old man, Abiodun Olushola, in correctional centre, for allegedly stealing a Toyota Camry car valued at N5 million and a Redmi phone that worth N220,000.
Olusola was arraigned alongside Ibrahim Yusuf ,22, Yahaya Saheed ,36, and Suraju Abdullahi,23, on five-count charges bordering on conspiracy, stealing, aiding and abetting.
The prosecutor, Elisa Olusegun, told the court that Olushola stole one Toyota Camry car, with registration number :EKV 548 BX, valued at N5 million, a Redmi phone valued at N220,000, and a cash sum of N15,000, properties of one Adefisoye Oladele.
According to the charges sheet, the offences were contrary to sections 516, 390(9) and 427 of the criminal code Cap 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.
The prosecutor said that the defendants committed the alleged offences on February 15, 2025, at Aurora Event Centre, Osogbo.
He explained that the first defendant, Olushola, and others now at large, conspired to commit felony by stealing and receiving stolen property.
Saheed was accused of unlawfully receiving the phone from Olushola at a “paltry rate,” knowing it was stolen, while Abdullahi was alleged to have received the same phone from Saheed and Yusuf allegedly received the phone Abdullahi.
Meanwhile, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the allegations preferred against them by the police.
Counsel to the defendants, T. B. Ayodele, urged the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal terms, promising that they would stand their trial.
But, the magistrate,Olusegun Ayilara, directed the counsel to file a formal application for the bail of his clients and ordered that the defendants be remanded in Ilesa Correctional facility .
